The album starts with Sajid-Wajid-Hard kaur sung Chandni Chowk se or Dekh Tamashe, which is pretty banal with Hard Kaur’s typical rap followed by a song just full-of-beats and so many instruments as I have heard them a lot. The next, Ishqan da Ishqan da has Sonu Nigam and Shweta Pandit singing. This one has a little OK tune and with Sonu singing, the song could be something worth listening to, with some better arrangements.

Jungle ki Hirni hoon is a typical ‘item number’ sung by Sunidhi Chauhan that is nothing too great but can work fine for yet another item song. The next, Murga anda dega, or the title song as you can call it, is again not a great one, but Sanjay Dutt sings this one, and the background arrangements have been added a few extra things that may sound interesting with the kind of lyrics it has. No, the rap wasn’t required.

The last song, Singh Singh Singh is again one sung by Sanjay Dutt himself, along with Wajid, Khurram Iqbal and Asif Ali Beg. But this one fails as well as the song looks more like background of those ’70s movies to me.

Overall, Chatur Singh Two Star is two star for true. Need say more?

Gourov Das Gupta gets a number of big singers in Knock Out, a fact that makes me expect more from him this time. He reaches some of the expectations, but not all. Here is a review.

The album starts with a rock-based title song sung by Vishal Dadlani. Vishal is fine in the song but the song seems to be a bit picked from here and there and rest just added to make up a song. Some traces of Paathshala’s Khushnuma can be found which become all the more visible with Vishal singing the song. Not for listening but might sound ok in the movie as a background number.

After disappointing in the first song, Gourov DG makes a comeback with the next song that is sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The song comes as a surprise as Rahat sings a song which is not too similar to the songs he’s singing left right and center nowadays. A slower and deeper track with a slight touch of rock that gets fast and enraging in the middle, Khushnuma sa ye roshan ho is something definitely above his own average by the composer. Good one.

The next song, Jab Jab Dil Mile, sung by Sunidhi Chauhan is an average affair by Gourov where he goes all beats, in his usual style, but with a few added effects. Unfortunately the effects are not enough to make the song good and the result isn’t much worth listening to.

The fourth song of the album, KK’s tuhi mere humnavaa is again a good one making the album almost a series of alternate good songs. In tuhi mere, Gourov goes Pritamish with the music making the beats quite likeable while KK’s superb singing and some good lyrics of course add to the goodness of the song. Like like.

The next song of the album is Khushnuma sa wo mausam, which is not the same, though a bit similar, as Rahat’s khushnuma. This one, sung by Krishna, is a soft, kinda romantic tune with some sad lyrics. Right now I don’t think it’s the best song of the album but still it’s quite likeable and the slow melody of the song is something that sticks to you more every time you listen to it. Do listen to this one too.

The last song of the album is a guest composition from Sanjeev-Darshan and is called Gangubai pe aayi jawani. All I want to tell the producers is that every item song is not Munni. OK. The song is not a straight-no-no and can be heard a few times (or maybe less), but then nothing great in the song. Just some catchy words and some _______ singing isn’t enough.

Anyway, overall Knock Out is kinda more than I ‘actually’ expected from Gourov Dasgupta. I wished this time that he comes better than himself this time even though I didn’t really hope so. But in some places he does grow and tuhi mere humnavaa and Rahat’s Khushnuma point to those places. In general, the album is yet another average affair with 2-3 listenable songs.

Well, as I said, Mithoon is back with Lamhaa. And here is the first song of the album, out there. Sung by Mithoon (as far as I can guess) and Chinmayee (as per sources), madhno re is an instantly likable song. The best part of the song is that it is Mithoon’s type, it’s good, but it doesn’t sound repetitive. In short, I am loving the song already, check it for yourself.

Here are the lyrics of the song, the last part here looks like Dogri/Kashmiri as it sounds a bit close to Urdu. Lyrics of the may not be fully correct. Corrections, if any, are invited.

hai dil ko teri aarzoo
par main tujhe na paa sakoon
main hoon shab tu subah
dono jud ke juda
madhno..
mashuko..
dilbaro..
madhno re..

tu hi to har pal bandha hai
lamhon ki in zanjeeron mein
teri hi to hai khushboo mujhmein haan
ab tu hi to harsoon har jagah

baksas sishab sa subah
meelat dashwar juda
madno..
mashuko..
dilbaro..
madno re..
mahiya ve..
mahiya..
mahiyaaaa……

Update:
1. The song is sung by one of Mithoon’s favorites, Kshitij Tarey, with Chinmayee.
2. As per readers, madhno means Saajna itself, the word used in Mika version.

Oops! It’s a well spread rumor, coming from comparatively reliable resources. So it’s almost a news. Rajkumar Hirani is planning to replace Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi with Aamir Khan and Sharman Joshi for the new Munna Bhai movie, Munna Bhai Chale America. The interesting thing is that the promos of the movie, showing Sanjay and Arshad of course, have been doing rounds on the Internet for years now.

If that happens, it will be worth seeing if Sharman Joshi makes as good a Circuit as Arshad. My guess is Sharman will have a new name instead of Circuit, but since it’s a Munna Bhai series, I don’t think Aamir will be called anything else. And while my opinion is that Sanjay Dutt any day makes the best ‘bhai’ in Bollywood, how Aamir does that role will have to be watched.

Whatever it is, I think the news is bad. For one, I do not want a new Munna Bhai, and secondly, I think Aamir should get ahead of Hirani’s comedy now and go on to do better films.

I do not have much to say. The trailer says it all. The Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu, Kumal Kapoor starrer film is directed by Rahul Dholakia, who has Parzania to his credit. I am waiting for the movie after watching the Trailer, but the bad part is that I cannot see the release date of the film as yet. The shooting of the film had started in late 2008 and there was much news about Bipasha leaving the shoot and then starting the film again. Hope with the trailer out, the film should not be much far away. By the way, watch out for Anupam Kher in the promo. Looks like an interesting getup.
