It would be nice. A middle-class family might think it would be nice to have an in-ground swimming pool. A millionaire might think it would be nice to have a yacht. The billionaire, a private jet. Someone, somewhere might think it would be nice to have food to feed her family tonight. Someone, somewhere might think it would be nice to live in a van in order to afford to go to a wonderful school. I could begin satisfying my desires and buying comforts, but I’ve learned to appreciate what little I have instead of longing for what I do not.

Let me ask you a question. On an average, how long before the release of a movie do you get its songs? A month? two months? More??

OK. Let me give some recent examples. Kurbaan released on 20th November, while you can see my review of Kurbaan dated 12th October here. De dana dan is due for a release on 27th November, but I had written a review for its music on 3rd November, some 24 days before the release. 3 Idiots is going to release on 25th December, but I had the album in my hand on 17th October itself. And even Paa, a movie that had not shown Amitabh’s face until 4th November evening, released its music more than 15 days before the release. No questions about Radio, whose song are on air for months now.

So you get an idea. Most of the films release their music at least three to four weeks earlier, while some give it even longer and talk in months.

But Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year seems to have a different Formula. Rocket Singh is definitely one of the most anticipated movies of this year being Shimit Amin’s next venture after Chak De India. And the music of Rocket Singh should be more in demand as it’s Salim-Sulaiman’s next release after Kurbaan which got great reviews and response. Still, it’s only 15 days to the release of the movie (11th December) but the music is not showing up. Other than Pocket mein Rocket, that is, which has hit the televisions and internet.

So what is the effect of this new Sudden-take-off formula of Rocket Singh? As yet, one thing is that you can see people satisfying their hunger with Pocket mein Rocket on TV, and more than that, on internet.

At the same time, YashRaj is trying to get the benefit of this also as most of the people searching for Rocket Singh on youtube eventually reach the original YashRaj’s channel than anywhere else. If they are able to change these views into subscription, this may benefit them in future, say for Pyaar Impossible in near future.

So for now, keep waiting. Yes, according to Salim-Sulaiman it’s still some 5-6 days to the release of Rocket Singh’s music. Till then? Pocket mein Rocket hai..

It seems I am very much inspired by Shashi Tharoor’s Elephant, Tiger and Cellphone. That could be the only explanation of my every fourth blog post title being in three words. Anyways, this time it’s about Domino’s Pizza delivery services and me and since I could not think of anything else, I titled the post on Pizza, Pasta and me, the main three chracters of this story, as I do not know the name of the guy at the Domino’s.

Well, it’s been some time since Domino’s has been giving tempting advertisements on their newly found product, Domino’s pastas. Of course, they have tried to make the advertisements such that if you are hungry (or even if you’re not, do they care), you just pick up the phone, dial their number, and order a Pasta.

But if you actually do that, the answer would be “Sorry Sir, we do not deliver side orders”, or something like that.

Surprised? Well, I was certainly surprised when I ordered a pasta and garlic bread with coke from the nearest Domino’s some 15 days ago, and the guy at the other end told me that it was a side order and they did not deliver side orders until I ordered a Pizza. Believe me, I had an order of more than Rs 200 but they were not up for it, while they could come to deliver a single regular Pizza even if the order value was much less. I was quite baffled but since it was night and I didn’t have many options left, I ordered a regular Pizza along with my order and got it within half an hour.

Now, the question is what is Domino’s expecting. Do they think everybody who watches their advertisement will first think of ordering a pizza because it’s Domino’s, or that they will thrust a pizza upon all, or a majority customers who order a Pasta? Or is it that they made an advertisement which shows things more ambitious than they actually are.

I’m still wondering. Any answers, Domino’s?

This is a cashless world. Or as some people say it more intellectually, this is a Plastic world. Well, yes, if people like me who possess no Credit cards and not even a flashy Visa Electron or something debit card, roaming with just an SBI Maestro survive without cash in most places, the world is quite cashless.

But in this cashless world, where ‘people’ living of old thoughts (like me) are moving cashless more and more, there are ‘institutions’ (say shops/cinemas, u get it, the ones who take money) who are living in old ages. Yes, there are shops that claim to accept credit cards (only), or ones accepting ONLY VISA cards, or even charging for using cards.

No. I do not get the logic of asking Rs 20 per ticket (not even per transaction) as ‘convenience fee’ by a multiplex. According to me, it’s anti-business to ask for convenience charges, or put ‘Credit cards only’ up on screen in today’s world. At least until you have a monopoly in the market, because in many instances you’re giving your business to your competitor.

I hope my nearby Fame multiplex understands that and changes this Rs 20 per ticket system soon. Else, I won’t go (cuz it’s too near to my house), but I guess many people will, the way I did when I could not arrange a Credit card.

<g:plusone size="standard" count="1" href="http://happysing.com/2009/11/convenience-is-free/"></g:plusone>
