OK. I don’t know exactly when it happened but I saw it, and it’s there. Micro Blogging platform Twitter has started Promoted tweets (read advertisements) and they can be seen when you search something. For example, I saw my first Promoted tweet when I clicked the hashtag ‘#didyoureallythink’ today.
The system of Promoted tweets is such that they come on top when you search for something and most probably you will be seeing them right above some top tweets. But then, when you click ‘X new tweets’ to update a page, TopTweets go down in the page but promoted tweets don’t and always stick to the top.
Below a promoted tweet, you can see a small yellow colored box saying ‘promoted by xyz’ if xyz is the name of promoter/advertiser.
