When I was coming to join my job at Bangalore, I was getting heaps of advice from all, right from the oldest person in the neighborhood to the tiniest creature at home. The season of visits was on a high and while I was paying visits to some, more were coming home to congratulate me.
Among all those, there was a name of Navneet Bansal aka Bittu Bhaiya too, who is my cousin and works as a manager with Punjab National Bank. When he came, he talked normally and hardly reminded me that I was going to Bangalore for a job, or that I was going alone or that there would be none else but me and I should take care of myself. He simply said, “I think you must have been told everything by everybody already. So I need not say much. All I want to say is when you are working too much, just don’t skip lunches. That was one mistake we used to make.”
Today, just a year and three months into the job, I don’t remember a single thing said by anybody during those days. The only advice that I remember is about not skipping lunches, and it helps the most at the times when I have lot of work and I think of saving some time. In such cases, I simply go and grab a veg cheese sandwich, but I make it a point not to skip a lunch.
