If you noticed, there is a small budget movie called Bolo Raam, featuring Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav, and a strange poster, coming up. The movie has Sachin Gupta’s music who is known for his song Ehsaan itna sa kar de from Dil Kabaddi. This time again there is something worth a try in Bolo Raam. Here is the music review.

Tere Ishq mein kya kya kar gayi has some good music and Sunidhi has sung it well. The lyrics of the song are okay, as even though there are some wonderful parts like ‘aankhen baithi kohni tikaye’, it seems lyrics lack something. Sachin’s music is quite catchy like always and use of instruments is good with beats, even though song is not really fast.

For the next song, Maa tere jaisa koi kahin na, Sukhwinder Singh comes in. Lyrics of the song are of course touching, but in parts. Music is fine. Sukhwinder Singh has sung the song well but I guess there could be a better choice of singer for the song. Background sounds in the song don’t fit well. Seems like Sachin has good music but lacks in variety. Still, an okay song. Worth a try.

Do Dil hain Jawan or Khabeeda, sung by Soham and Monali, is a disco kind dance number which is all beats and nothing more. The song is come and go type and won’t even be noticed if not shown on TV ferociously. The only interesting thing in the song was the word Khabeeda which I heard in a song after years. The last I heard the word was in Madhuri Dixit’s Wajood whose lyrics were penned by Javed Akhtar.

Talking of the remixes, while the remix of Sukhwinder’s maa tere jaisa fails from the very first line, Tere ishq mein is a surprise. The remix has an additional male voice (or possibly two, uncredited) singing in Punjabi and Hindi. The remmix of the song sounds quite good and adds to the value of not only the album but the original song too. Surely worth a try if you like contemporary music. Kind of music by Sharib-Toshi and somewhat Pritam.

Overall, Bolo Ram is a small album with 3 songs, one good, one bad, one okay, and two remixes, one good and one bad. Tere ishq mein is my pick. Maa tere jaisa not bad.
