Let me ask you a question. On an average, how long before the release of a movie do you get its songs? A month? two months? More??
OK. Let me give some recent examples. Kurbaan released on 20th November, while you can see my review of Kurbaan dated 12th October here. De dana dan is due for a release on 27th November, but I had written a review for its music on 3rd November, some 24 days before the release. 3 Idiots is going to release on 25th December, but I had the album in my hand on 17th October itself. And even Paa, a movie that had not shown Amitabh’s face until 4th November evening, released its music more than 15 days before the release. No questions about Radio, whose song are on air for months now.
So you get an idea. Most of the films release their music at least three to four weeks earlier, while some give it even longer and talk in months.
But Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year seems to have a different Formula. Rocket Singh is definitely one of the most anticipated movies of this year being Shimit Amin’s next venture after Chak De India. And the music of Rocket Singh should be more in demand as it’s Salim-Sulaiman’s next release after Kurbaan which got great reviews and response. Still, it’s only 15 days to the release of the movie (11th December) but the music is not showing up. Other than Pocket mein Rocket, that is, which has hit the televisions and internet.

So what is the effect of this new Sudden-take-off formula of Rocket Singh? As yet, one thing is that you can see people satisfying their hunger with Pocket mein Rocket on TV, and more than that, on internet.
At the same time, YashRaj is trying to get the benefit of this also as most of the people searching for Rocket Singh on youtube eventually reach the original YashRaj’s channel than anywhere else. If they are able to change these views into subscription, this may benefit them in future, say for Pyaar Impossible in near future.
So for now, keep waiting. Yes, according to Salim-Sulaiman it’s still some 5-6 days to the release of Rocket Singh’s music. Till then? Pocket mein Rocket hai..
