I don’t know whether I should be doing this, but since I am a critic, or at least aspiring to be one, I think it’s good if I let my opinion go out. And this is what I am doing here.
In the past few days my blog has got some regular visitors who come to my blog every weekend. Some of these are people who know me personally or are in contact through social networking (read Twitter). And from some of these people I got praise for my reviews I never expected. Reason: Not just my reviews were good, but people hated some other reviewers reviews and so they came to my blog for a balanced opinion.
Well, seems like I’m getting into an oh-my-god-I’m-such-a-well-behaved-god-fearing-never-bitching-about-others-guy mode. So I come to the point now.
Yesterday I watched De Dana Dan, which, according to me is at best an average movie. And while Nikhat Kazmi (ToI) and Anupama Chopra (NDTV) have given the movie 2.5 and 2 stars out of 5, Taran Adarsh of BollywoodHungama has given the movie a whopping 4 which is. interestingly, just half less than the sum of the ToI n NDTV.
Also, for reference, BollywoodHungama had given a 4 to both Blue and Kurbaan, neither deserving a four star, or getting the same from any other reputed Critic I know.
In short, if you’re still reading Taran’s reviews, I guess it’s time to shift to my blog. Or at least give a look to NDTV or some other channel before you go for a movie on the basis of BollywoodHungama reviews. I guess that sums it up.
PS: Taran, I used to love your reviews in a time, not very long back. So in case you’re reading this somewhere , I’d like to tell you that I have learned a lot from you. My apologies.
